Huge turnout for Home Repair and Energy "Connect" Event

The final numbers are not in but several hundred citizens showed up to find out what programs might help, then signed up for assistance. An early count showed 67 applications for the Community Action Partnership of North Alabama's weatherization program, 37 ramp-build projects with the Habitat for Humanity's "Brush of Kindness", several paint jobs, two home ownership applications and so much more. The event coordinated by Independent Living Resources - Walker Office was supported by this Foundation, Walker County Community Action, Community Action Partnership of North Alabama, M4A (Area Aging), Kid One Transport, and the American Red Cross - Walker Office. Hundreds were registered in and more news will be forthcoming. It was our first attempt at "one-stop" assistance. Trecia Benefield and the Red Cross Volunteers have made a huge difference in many folks lives. Well Done!
